Space City Takes Flight: A Corporate Welcome Reception at the Woodlands Resort

Some projects feel like full circle moments, and this was one of them. ✨
Days after Artemis II launched, our team at The Woodlands Event Co. had the pleasure of producing & styling a Space City-themed corporate reception to welcome partners traveling to Houston from around the world. 🌎
The theme was well timed- leaning into the global excitement surrounding Artemis II, it celebrated Houston’s role as Space City, and highlighted HPE’s partnership with NASA. The 3rd iteration of HPE’s Spaceborne Computer launched to the International Space Station in 2024. 🙌🏽
✨From a custom menu that gave attendees a taste of Houston 🍽️, to a robot caricature activation 🤖, a 9-foot model rocket 🚀, suspended planets overhead 🪐, and custom event branding woven throughout the experience—every detail was designed with intention.
✨It was the perfect opportunity to merge my background in space exploration with my passion for designing immersive experiences.
Setting the Scene
When guests arrived at The Woodlands Resort, they stepped into an experience that celebrated Houston’s identity as Space City while creating meaningful opportunities for connection, conversation, and discovery.
Located just north of Houston, The Woodlands Resort offers more than 75,000 square feet of flexible event space, making it an ideal destination for conferences, corporate meetings, and large-scale receptions. Surrounded by the natural beauty of the Texas Piney Woods, the venue provided the perfect backdrop for an evening that blended innovation, hospitality, and immersive event design.
Bringing Houston’s Space Legacy to life
As guests gathered for the opening reception, the event paid tribute to Houston’s role in space exploration while creating an atmosphere that felt sophisticated, engaging, and unmistakably Space City.
Custom-designed environments, strategic lighting, branded activations, and interactive elements transformed the venue into a celebration of innovation and exploration. Rather than simply decorating a room, every detail was designed to support networking, spark conversation, and reinforce the event’s theme.
The result was a corporate welcome reception that felt less like a traditional networking event and more like an experience.
